tuesday rewind

So how about them Oscars...

No matter how much I love watching them, they always throw off my sleep schedule and then I'm a bear. Two days later and I still want to go to bed at 7:30pm.

On top of it, the tail end of last week was super busy. We crunched in concerts, late night movies, time with friends, and TWO cider and beer tastings. So sleep wasn't a priority...but while I still haven't gotten in the pool, I got one bike ride in and managed to accomplish MOST of my newly minted run plan.

I even managed to convince a friend to go running with me! He's just getting back into running so he mistakenly thinks I'm fast.  To be honest it was just nice being able to run and talk to someone. Well, talk AT someone. He was gracious enough to listen.

I'm usually the one huffing and puffing on a run with Ryan. The only thing I have over him is my run streak.

But I'll take what I can get.

What accomplishment are you most proud of when it comes to your fitness? Do you have a run streak? Or is it something NOT running related? Remember sharing is caring.

Until the next rewind, peace out, lifers.

monday rewind

Hey hey hey! Looks who's making a comeback.

Last week felt so much better. I haven't gotten in the pool yet BUT I got on the bike twice AND I managed to get a five mile run in. #winning.

We'll ignore the fact that the day after that run I was hobbling like a ninety year old woman.

This past weekend was so nice it was basically a sin to be indoors so I tried to catch up on some mileage towards my 1,000 mile running mini-goal. My 100 mile running mini-goal for February is pretty much out of the question. If I get half that I'll consider myself lucky I kept my streak going at all.

Which currently, I'm at day 175.

By this time next week I'll have run for six months. That's half a year guys!

Having the motivation to run everyday has been a challenge. It does help to have smashrun. Those badges are the best things for me. Including my latest one I earned Sunday. It doesn't help not having a run plan. With no races lined up and the triathlon distances being right around the 5K mark, so there's no reason to really run anything further.

This week I really want to sit down and make a run plan. I know there's a lot of plans out there and maybe I'll incorporate aspects of those, but there's just something about making your own. You know?

What running plans have you used or what ones are you using? Have you found one that worked? Do you have any suggestions on speed workouts?

Until the next rewind, peace out, lifers.

adventures in boston

So as I mentioned before, Ryan and I went to Boston last weekend to see my favorite podcast ever. Lore.

Once we realized that a winter storm was coming and some other plans fell through, we booked a hotel and made it a long weekend. We stayed just outside the city because parking is a nightmare. And since we were traveling through Massachusetts, Ryan decided it was the perfect opportunity to check out Treehouse Brewing in Monson. Needless to say we both had a pretty good weekend.

Oh and if you're ever in Sturbridge, go to Lola's. You wont regret it.

Until the next adventure, peace out, lifers.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I showered Ryan with a bouquet of balloons (that were really for me) and made him cook me dinner. I also bought "us" three bags of hershey kisses that "we" ate over the weekend.

I don't know about you, but I've had A LOT of chocolate lately.

Admittedly, I'm getting really bad at this.

But this past weekend was such a lazy weekend for us and I. Loved. It. We went to Boston to go see the Lore live show and stayed over through Monday because of the storm. So while last week's mileage wasn't the best, it's good to know it can get worse...

At least I haven't lost my streak yet.

Also, treadmills are the worst.

Are you doing anything to celebrate today? How do you handle lazy weekends and still get stuff done? Or does that defeat the purpose...

Until the next rewind, peace out, lifers.

it's a marshmallow world in the winter

So if you're in new england right now, you're in the middle of this too.

I was super happy to have a snow day this past Thursday. Ryan and I both stayed home (I still had to work) and enjoyed the first real snowfall in our new house. I was even more excited to hear more snow was coming today! Ryan is significantly less excited since he signed up to shovel all the snow. But I mean without snow, the winter would just be cold, and cold weather is the worst.

The snow does present somewhat of a problem running outside. You either run through a couple inches of snow no one shoveled or on a thin icy layer that has a couple flakes of salt thrown on it.

But you can't argue it doesn't make things pretty.

With my streak still going strong going, I earned another smashrun badge! Even though I've been a member for about a year and a half now, I missed last February's badge because of some coccyx pain. A year later, I still have the pain but keep on running. It may not be the brightest idea...

That makes two so far for the year and I think I'll get another ten by the end of it. #fingerscrossed

What are some of the running goals you have for this year? Are you making progress? How do you deal with running in the snow? Also, tell me which of these is you most often! For me, it's number six. OH. SO. TRUE.

Until the next snowmageddon, peace out, lifers.

tuesday rewind

This is definitely a day late. Thank you for not noticing.

Also, please note that I did in fact get on the bike! It may have only been for five miles, but my ass was in the seat and my legs were pedaling.

Last week was a little bit of an emotional roller coaster for me, but I'm happy that despite a minor meltdown, I did not break my running streak and just ran one mile for the one hundred sixtieth day in a row.

BOOM.

I know it's not anywhere close to the 5K that I wanted to do everyday. But I'm at least going for a mile. Maybe one day I'll have something close to what some of the people mentioned in this article have going. Only time will tell!

Unfortunately, smashrun only tracks runs so you can't see how poorly awesome I did on the bike. I wish there was something like it but for biking. I feel like I could really get behind it. The only thing I know of is strava and it just doesn't have the badges like smashrun does.

What do you use to track your biking? Do you just use garmin? Or do you have the goods on something more fun?

Until the next rewind, peace out, lifers.
